5 places to visit in Gozo / 5 luoghi da visitare a Gozo.

Finally I'm able to publish the first of my articles about my holiday in Gozo. I'm spending a lot of time writing these posts and editing all the photos, but I've so many thing to tell you and I want to do it as my best! On Instagram I did a survey to ask you which articles would you like to read before and you tell me what to visit in Gozo, so here you have it! :)

1. Il capoluogo Victoria (o Rabat) e la sua Cittadella / The main city Victoria (Rabat) and the Citadel

We stayed in Victoria (soon I'll talk to you about the accomodations) and we were so lucky because we loved it. Its little streets are so beautiful and characteristic, thanks to the colourful balconies and doors. Even more beautiful is the Citadel, the oldest part of the city, where the people of Gozo lived a lot of time ago, protected by its impressive walls which rule over the island. The Citadel is spectacular by day and by night so you should visit at least twice.

2. I resti dell'Azure Window e Dwejra

Cetainly many of you'll know this place because it was the location of the wedding between Daenerys and Khal Drogo, but also because unfourtunately the Azure Window collapsed in 2017. Anyway, this part of Gozo has one of the most peculiar landscapes in Gozo, thanks to its cliffs and the bright colour of the land. Moreover, you'll find Dwejra Bay, a small bay with an "inner" sea (thanks to the cave) which was one of our favourite place of the island.

3. Xlendi

I'll talk about this place because it's one of my favourite place of the island. It's beautiful to visit, you can bath there, you can find the best fish restaurants of the island and you can see a wonderful sunset from there.

Built between 3500 and 3000 B.C, Ggantija temples (called like this for the legend that rocks like these could only be transported by giants) are one of the most important archaeological sites in Malta that testify how ancient is civilization in Gozo. The museum there is interesting and very well studied. You can also visit the Ta' Kola windmill, where they mantained the furniture of the last owner of the windmill. I love reconstructions of old buildings so I loved visiting that place.

To be honest, salt pans in Gozo are not the most spectacular in the world, but as they're neer other places of interest, you should definitively visit one of them. You'll see that there are differnt around the island, these one in the post are at Xwenji bay.
