Santorini: day 4!

Il quarto e ultimo giorno a Santorini è stato quello che definirei più comico. La mattina siamo andati ad Amoudi Bay, un posto bellissimo con dell'acqua stupenda. Il pomeriggio abbiamo deciso di fare una gita in barca che è stata una vera avventura. Abbiamo scelto l'opzione che costava meno e che comprendeva un giro di un'ora e mezza all'isola vulcanica di Nea Kameni e poi mezz'ora a quella di Palea Kameni, dove ci sono le acque sulfuree in cui fare il bagno. Peccato che prima di andarci non ci abbiano informato di un po' di cose. Prima di tutto la nave doveva partire dal vecchio porto di Thira che abbiamo raggiunto a piedi non sapendo che lì ogni giorno ci sono le passeggiate con gli asini. Una bella esperienza se sei sopra l'asino ma non se sei a piedi cercando di evitare i loro calci e i loro..bisogni.. (il tutto all'una di pomeriggio sotto un sole cocente). Raggiunti la prima isola visto la lunghezza della tappa pensavamo di fare il bagno perchè faceva davvero troppo caldo per camminare (erano le due di pomeriggio). Arrivati là scopriamo che la balneazione era proibita e che la passeggiata per i crateri (due inattivi e uno sì) era obbligatoria e che si pagava anche! Ci siamo ritrovati in un paesaggio in perfetto stile Mordor del Signore degli Anelli che non ci ha entusiasmato particolarmente.  Un'avventura davvero! ;)
Per fortuna la sera abbiamo rimediato con la vista di un tramonto stupendo da Thira e una buonissima cena di pesce.

The fourth and last day in Santorini was the one that I can call "more comical". In the morning we went to Amoudi Bay, a beautiful place with beautiful water. In the afternoon we decided to take a boat trip which was a real adventure. We chose the option that cost less and that included a tour of an hour and a half to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni and then half an hour to that of Palea Kameni, where there are sulphurous waters in which you can bathe. Unfourtenately they didn't tell us a lot of things. First we had to go to the old port of Thira to get the boat but we didn't know that there every day there are walks with donkeys. A nice experience if you are above the donkey but not if you're on foot trying to avoid their kicks and their..droppings .. (all at 1:00 pm in the afternoon, under a blazing sun). Reached the first island we thought we could swim because it was really too hot to walk (it was 2:00 pm). We got there and we discover that bathing was prohibited and that the walk to the craters (two inactive and one active) was compulsory and that we had to pay too! We found ourselves in a landscape in perfect style Mordor of the Lord of the Rings that has not particularly impressed us. An adventure indeed! ;)
Luckily the night we had a beautiful sight of the sunset from Thira and a very good fish dinner.

Santorini: day 3!

Oggi vi racconto del nostro terzo giorno a Santorini, il 10 agosto, che per noi era il nostro quarto anniversario e forse anche per questo è stato il più bello per me. La mattina ci siamo fatti una bella camminata fino a Skaros Rock, un punto panoramico che si raggiunge da Imerovigli, forse uno dei punti più belli dell'isola per me. Poi siamo andati alla spiaggia di Perivolos che sia per la spiaggia che per il mare è stata la mia preferita. Abbiamo poi ammirato il tramonto dal faro di Akrotiri ed è stato un tramonto stupendo, più bello anche di quello di Oia. Una perfetta giornata a Santorini e un bellissimo anniversario.

Today I will talk to you about our third day in Santorini, on August 10, which for us was also our fourth anniversary, and perhaps for this reason has been my favourite day for me. In the morning we went up to Skaros Rock, a viewpoint that you can reach from Imerovigli, perhaps one of the most beautiful spots on the island for me. Then we went to Perivolos beach that both for the beach and for the sea was my favorite. Then we admired the sunset from the lighthouse of Akrotiri and it was a beautiful sunset, more beautiful even than that of Oia. A perfect day in Santorini and a beautiful anniversary.
