Birthday wishlist!

E' arrivato ottobre e questo vuol dire che a fine mese ci sarà il mio compleanno. Ho sempre avuto un rapporto un po' controverso diciamo con il mio compleanno. In realtà constatare con quanta fretta passa il tempo non mi piace per niente e non sono una persona che ama stare al centro delle attenzione quindi nelle feste in cui io sono la protagonista non sono proprio a mio agio. Allo stesso tempo mi piace quando le persone ti coccolano e fanno un bel gesto verso di te (ti fanno un augurio divertente, si tengono il pomeriggio libero per passarlo con te, escono con te a cena per festeggiare) perchè è il tuo giorno speciale. Spesso approfitto dell'occasione per regalarmi qualcosa che desidero ma che normalmente non comprerei perchè non strettamente necessaria o perchè un po' troppo costosa. Anche voi vi fate qualche regalo al compleanno? Come lo festeggiate? Quest'anno sono molto indecisa ma probabilmente mi regalerò qualcosa da questa lista:

October is here and this means that at the end of the month there will be my birthday. I've always had a somewhat controversial relationship with my birthday. I don't like to realize how fast I the time goes on and I'm not a person who loves to be the focus of attention during parties. At the same time I like when people spoil you and make a nice gesture towards you (they give you a fun wish, take a free afternoon to spend it with you, come to dinner with you to celebrate) because it is your special day. I often take advantage of the occasion to give myself something I wish but which I would not buy normally because it is not strictly necessary or because it is a little bit expensive. Do you also give you some birthday gifts? How do you celebrate it? This year I'm very uncertain, but I'll probably give me something from this list:

Y kimono now.

Avere la domenica libera per me è veramente qualcosa di raro e tutte quelle che mi capitano le voglio sfruttare al massimo, facendo sempre qualcosa di diverso, viaggiando e imparando nuove cose. Questa domenica appena passata è proprio stata così: interessante, alternativa, divertente, istruttiva e meravigliosa. Ho visitato una mostra che mi ha regalato molto emozioni e che ha il nome di "Y kimono now". La mostra è curata da Nancy Stetson Martin, della quale non so molto ma che per il poco che ho potuto capire mi sembra una donna dalla personalità intrigante e dalla creatività esuberante. Sono esposti più di 100 kimono dell'epoca che va dalla seconda metà dell'Ottocento alla prima del Novecento. L'esposizione di questi kimono è studiatissima e molto affascinante, ci guida in un percorso attraverso le tradizioni e la natura giapponese ma facendoci vedere anche le interpretazioni più moderne di questo antico capo di abbigliamento. La location della mostra è semplicemente perfetta, si tratta del setificio di Caraglio, il più antico d'Europa che si trova in provincia di Cuneo. Noi abbiamo approfittato dell'occasione per fare la visita guidata anche del setificio che è stata molto istruttiva ed interessante, la consiglio soprattutto in abbinamento ad una delle mostre che periodicamente si tengono al setificio.

Having a free Sunday for me is really something rare, and when it happens I want to live it richly, I want to do something different, to travel and learn new things. Last Sunday has just gone this way: interesting, alternative, funny, instructive and simply wonderful. I visited a fantasticexhibition whose name is "Y kimono now". The exhibition is curated by Nancy Stetson Martin, of whom I do not know much but for the little I could understand, it seems to me a woman with intriguing personality and exuberant creativity. There are more than 100 kimonos from the period which goes from the second half of the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. The display of these kimono is very researched and fascinating, it guides us through a journey through Japanese traditions and nature, but it also shows us the most modern interpretations of the kimono. The location of the exhibition is simply perfect, it is the silk factory in the province of Cuneo. We took advantage of the opportunity to make a guided tour of the factory which was very instructive and interesting, especially if you do it in conjunction with one of the exhibits that are regularly kept.

Siccome da casa mia a Caraglio ci sono due ore di viaggio abbiamo deciso di mangiare lì e la scelta si è rivelata ottima perchè abbiamo trovato Il Portichetto, un ristorante che dall'esterno non si presenta meravigliosamente ma che all'interno è molto bello e che fa principalmente cucina tipica piemontese. Il personale è stato gentilissimo e il cibo era ottimo e perfetto per la fredda giornata di autunno.

Since from my home to Caraglio it takes two hours by car we decided to eat there and the choice turned out to be great because we found Il Portichetto, a restaurant that does not look too beautiful from the outside but that in the inside is very nice and that mainly makes typical Piedmontese cuisine. The staff were friendly and the food was great and perfect for the cold autumn day.

Trend alert: tartan, principe di galles...

Tartan, principe di galles, pied de poule, questo autunno-inverno sarà la stagione delle stampe a quadri! Quello che mi piace è che questa tendenza dal taglio tradizionalmente maschile è stata reinterpretata in chiave prettamente femminile e spesso anche sensuale combinandola con pizzi e volant, ricami e stampe floreali e inserendola in capi come minigonne e abiti lingerie. Ovviamente non mancheranno i completi giacca e pantalone dal taglio più classico ma li troveremo anche su accessori e scarpe. Che ne pensate di questa tendenza? La seguirete o non fa per voi?

Trend alert: red!

Parola d'ordine? Rosso! Uno dei colori protagonisti di questa stagione autunno/inverno è per chi non ama passare inosservato. Con questo colore troveremo il modo di accendere anche le giornate più grigie e fredde che ci attendono. Per chi vuole davvero osare perfetto è il total look ma un'ottima idea è anche quella arricchire un outfit dai toni più neutri con qualche dettaglio di un bel rosso fuoco come una tracollina, un basco in lana, una bella sciarpa a trecce e, perchè no, una tinta rossa sulle labbra.

What will be the password of the winter? Red! One of the colour which will be protagonists of this fall /winter season is for those who do not like to go unnoticed. With this color we will find the way to light up even the most gray and cold days that are waiting for us. For those who really want to dare it's perfect the total look, but a great idea it is also to enrich an outfit based on more neutral tones with some red fire details like a clutch, a beanie, a fine plaid scarf and, why not, a red tint on the lips.
